Bavaria: World War II fragmentation bombs defused

Neuburg an der Donau (dpa/lby) - In Neuburg an der Donau, three US fragmentation bombs from the Second World War were discovered while working on a meadow. The bombs were defused without complications on Thursday, the police said. An adjoining commercial area was cleared beforehand. Since there was also a gas station right next to the site, the fire brigade built a splinter protection from plastic containers. In addition, federal highway 16 was completely closed for a short time until the Bavarian demolition squad had rendered the finds harmless.
