Bayern: Regensburg continues winless phase: Zero number against Kiel

Der Jahn can only partially stop the negative trend in the second division. In the 0-0 draw against Kiel, the Regensburg team failed to score again.

Regensburg (dpa/lby) - SSV Jahn Regensburg was unable to end its winless phase in the 2nd Bundesliga even in the home game against Holstein Kiel. The Upper Palatinate had to settle for a goalless draw on Saturday when Schalke loan player Blendi Idrizi made a good debut in midfield in front of 8,893 spectators. After the last three defeats with 0:11 goals, there was no turnaround. In the fifth game without a win, Jahn again failed to score. The Kielers are doing well with twelve points.

"It was important for us to show character after the defeats, especially the last two. We had a strong opponent well under control," commented coach Mersad Selimbegovic. He had to reorganize his team due to injury and illness and switched to a back three. In midfield, where captain Benedikt Gimber was unable to start after a cold, 24-year-old Idrizi started with his new team after just a few training sessions. He was a win with his ball security and overview.

Joshua Mees had Jahn's best chances. The loan from Kiel was blocked once (33rd minute), once Mees headed over the goal (35th). Steven Skrzybski aimed his shot too centrally at Kiel in the first half (22'). Patrick Erras had the last chance, but the Kiel midfielder's shot was cleared by Jahn defender Jan Elvedi just before the goal line (71'). "In the end it's important that you somehow break this negative series, we did that," said Selimbegovic.
