Munich (dpa / lby) - After goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was injured, sports director Hasan Salihamidzic does not want to deal too much with possible problems in the future. "It is important that we find the best solution for our team in the short term. We then have to manage what is in the summer," said the 45-year-old FC Bayern Munich official of "Sport Bild" (Wednesday). Neuer broke his lower leg on a ski tour and is missing the German soccer record champion for the rest of the season. "We are examining different scenarios. But of course Alexander Nübel would be an obvious solution. In the end, AS Monaco has the last word."
Nübel has a contract with FC Bayern until 2025, but is currently on loan in the French league because he no longer wanted to wait for appearances behind Neuer as number two. It is questionable whether he is ready to return to Munich early with the prospect of a new comeback in the fall.
Because Neuer is not the only Bayern player who has been injured in recent weeks, Munich is not only looking for a goal on the transfer market, as Salihamidzic said. "As you know, I'm not a fan of the winter transfer window. But a lot has happened during the World Cup break, so I'm not ruling anything out," he said. "We're trying to do what's best for our team.
