ARD has found a successor for Jörg Pilawa (56): "Sportschau" presenter Esther Sedlaczek (36) will be the new ARD quizmaster, as the first announced on Sunday (July 24). In the future, she will present the "Quizduell-Olymp" in the first, it is said. It celebrates its premiere on August 26 at 6:50 p.m., after which it will ring in the weekend with the show every Friday.
As usual, a prominent guessing team faces the best quiz minds in the country. Marie-Louise Finck (32), Thorsten Zirkel (44) and Eckhard Freise (77) also appear in the new episodes.
Frank Beckmann (56), ARD coordinator of the evening program, explains: "Esther Sedlaczek convinces an audience of millions in the 'Sportschau'. With her quick wit, her wit and her knowledge, she fits in perfectly with the 'Quizduell-Olymp'. I'm happy and say: Welcome to the ARD quiz family." Sedlaczek describes Jörg Pilawa's footsteps in a statement as "huge". She goes to her new job "with great respect". "But I love quizzes - and that's why I'm particularly pleased to be able to present this popular quiz show in the future," she says.
Esther Sedlaczek is best known as a sports presenter. Since August 2021 she has been moderating the “Sportschau” on the first and will be part of the ARD moderation team at the World Cup in Qatar. The 36-year-old had previously worked for the Sky broadcaster since 2011, where she reported on the Bundesliga and the DFB Cup, among other things.
At the beginning of the year it was announced that Jörg Pilawa was moving from NDR and ARD to the Sat.1 station. Pilawa primarily presented quiz formats for ARD, including "Quizduell", "Quiz without borders" or the "NDR Quizshow".
