In an effort to crack down on aggressive motorists, the Florida Highway Patrol will host a targeted safety campaign through March 9.
“Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks” aims to educate motorists about the dangers of driving recklessly near trucks, which have large blind spots and cannot brake as quickly as smaller vehicles, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
During the two-week campaign, troopers will be on the lookout for drivers who are speeding, tailing cars and changing lanes carelessly.
The Florida Highway Patrol recommends motorists driving near trucks to maintain a constant speed, “pass on the left hand side for maximum visibility” and limit distractions, such as texting and changing the radio.
