The charity event "Tribute to Bambi" was created around the "Bambi" media prize 21 years ago. It is dedicated to needy children who are ill, mentally injured or economically disadvantaged. Model Shermine Shahrivar used the stage of the event, which this year focused on the war refugees from Ukraine, for a different message this time.
The 39-year-old appeared at the gala in a strapless black dress. On her décolleté and her arms she had drawn several letters with a red pen. The words "Freiheit" and "Freedom" were emblazoned on her arms. "Azadi," the Persian word for freedom, was written across her chest.
Joining Shahrivar on the red carpet were film producer and screenwriter Minu Barati, among others. The wife of ex-Federal Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer is the daughter of an Iranian opposition politician. Together, the two women also held a sign with the slogan "Free Iran" for the camera.
With the action, Shahrivar made clear her support for the current protests against the mullahs' regime in Iran. After the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini three weeks ago, women in particular have taken to the streets in the country to resist their oppression.
Other stars have also expressed their solidarity with the women's movement in Iran. In France, more than 50 actresses and other celebrities cut their hair as a sign of support. They included Juliette Binoche, Marion Cotillard, Isabelle Adjani, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Isabelle Huppert and Jane Birkin.
