Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - A 20-year-old was slightly injured in Frankfurt with a knife wound in the upper body. According to initial investigations, after visiting a mosque, he wanted to settle a dispute between two men on a street corner when a stranger stabbed him in the upper body from behind, the police said on Friday. Two previously unknown people, including the perpetrator, fled the scene of the crime. The slightly injured man was taken to a hospital for outpatient treatment.
Because the two strangers fled in the direction of a mosque on Kriegkstraße, the police said they could not rule out that they entered the building. To protect the parishioners, special forces searched the mosque, but did not find the two fugitives. According to previous knowledge, the strangers had nothing to do with the mosque, as a police spokesman said. The proximity to the mosque was probably a coincidence.
Police say the search has so far been unsuccessful. The investigation into the knife attack continued. The Kriegkstrasse was closed for the duration of the operation.
