Hesse: climate activist paralyzes traffic: process because of coercion

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - Because she abseiled onto a motorway and thus paralyzed traffic, a climate activist has to answer in court for the second time this Tuesday. The 26-year-old was already sentenced to a fine of 900 euros (90 daily rates) by the Frankfurt district court, but the public prosecutor's office appealed, so that the case must now be heard before the district court. Her goal is a suspended sentence, it said.

The crime happened in October 2021 on Autobahn 661 near Frankfurt-Oberrad, where the accused had roped down from a pedestrian bridge onto the roadway. Because she initially refused to give her name and address, she was taken into custody for five weeks. The court intends to complete the case in one hearing day.
