Hesse: Frankfurt's test is canceled due to corona: Kostic rumors

"For security reasons" the friendly between Eintracht Frankfurt and Ajax Amsterdam is cancelled. Coach Glasner collects further impressions during training. The future of top player Kostic remains unclear.

Grödig (dpa/lhe) - Europa League winner Eintracht Frankfurt has to cope with the extremely demanding start of the season without the agreed endurance test against the Dutch top club Ajax Amsterdam. The game scheduled for Saturday in Grödig in Austria had been canceled "for security reasons" due to several corona cases at Ajax, as both clubs announced. The Eintracht pros head coach Oliver Glasner completed a training session instead. Before the start of the season, there is one last test match at Astoria Walldorf on Wednesday.

In August, climax follows climax. While the cup game on August 1st at 1. FC Magdeburg is still a mandatory performance, it then goes into the spotlight: On August 5th (8.30 p.m.), the European Cup winner opens the new Bundesliga season against defending champions FC Bayern Munich. Already on August 10 (9 p.m.) in Helsinki it is against Real Madrid, the winner secures the European Supercup. Well over 10,000 Frankfurt fans are expected in the Finnish capital.

On the other hand, it is still unclear whether Glasner can plan for the new season with the trio Filip Kostic, Daichi Kamada and Evan Ndicka. The contracts for all three top performers expire in the summer of 2023, sports director Markus Krösche is reluctant to go into the last year of the contract and thus risk a free transfer. According to reports, the Serbian winger Kostic could move into a possible change.

According to media reports from the "Bild-Zeitung" and the Italian expert Gianluca di Marzio, Premier League club West Ham United are currently working on an offer for Kostic. The possible transfer fee should be between 13 and 15 million euros. According to reports, the Hessians should insist on a transfer fee of around 20 million euros.

It would be questionable how Frankfurt could compensate for the departure of star player Kostic before the first season in the Champions League. The "Bild-Zeitung" named David Raum as an alternative national player, who also plays on the left wing but is now said to be about to move to RB Leipzig. AC Milan are said to be interested in Ndicka.
