Hesse: Frauenberg: Franciscans and the foundation hope for support

Fulda (dpa/lhe) - The Franciscans and the antonius community foundation want to jointly lead the monastery on Frauenberg in Fulda into the future. For this they hope for the support of the diocese of Fulda as the owner of the monastery complex. So far, the foundation has already invested around 350,000 euros in the conversion and establishment of the inclusive businesses in the monastery and further investments are pending, according to those involved.

The foundation runs a monastery café, a conference hotel, a tailor's shop and a gardening shop in the monastery garden, which currently employ 38 people with disabilities. A total of more than 100 people live and work on the Frauenberg. The collaboration between the Franciscan monastery and the foundation, initially planned for ten years, has been running for around five years. Franciscans have been working on the Frauenberg for almost 400 years. The beginnings of the monastery go back to the 8th century.
