Wetzlar (dpa/lhe) - Hesse's Economics Minister Tarek Al-Wazir is to be nominated as a candidate for the office of Prime Minister at today's party conference of the Hessian Greens in Wetzlar. It was time to start a three-way battle for the state chancellery, the deputy head of government declared before the general meeting. It was the first time that Hesse's Greens went into the state election campaign with their own candidate for the office of Prime Minister.
In Hesse, elections are to take place on October 8th. The board of directors expects more than 1000 participants for the Green party conference, a greeting from the federal chairman Omid Nouripour is planned. It should also be voted on the composition of the state list for state elections. Minister of Science Angela Dorn is a candidate for first place on the list, and Al-Wazir for second place. According to the statutes of the Greens, every odd place on the list is occupied by a woman.
