Hesse: Hesse lifts the corona isolation obligation

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - Hesse is lifting the isolation requirement for people infected with corona. The regulation applies from this Wednesday, as the state government announced after a decision by the cabinet on Tuesday in Wiesbaden. At the same time, corona infected people with symptoms of illness are strongly recommended not to leave the apartment if possible in order to get well again quickly and not to endanger anyone else.

Instead of the obligation to isolate, the following rules will apply in Hesse from Wednesday: Adults and children aged six and over who have tested positive are required to wear a mask outside their own home at least five days after the first positive test. In the open air, the mask can be removed in compliance with the distance rules (1.5 meters).

For these people, there is also a ban on entering and working in hospitals, retirement and nursing homes, homeless and refugee accommodation and other facilities with vulnerable people or increased risk of infection. This rule affects both visitors and staff. Excluded from the ban on entry are people who are treated or cared for in the facility, as well as police and rescue workers.

At the same time, it is strongly recommended to isolate yourself for five days in the event of an infection with symptoms and not to receive visitors, the state government said. Isolation should not be ended until at least 48 hours have been symptom-free or ten days have passed since the first test.

The lifting of the obligation to isolate is the result of the ongoing review of the corona situation in Hesse. The lifting of the isolation will also apply from Wednesday to all people who are in isolation at this time due to the previous regulation. If the situation worsens again, especially in the Hessian hospitals, the state government will advise and decide again.

Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Schleswig-Holstein had previously lifted the regulation of at least five days of isolation in the event of a corona infection. In Rhineland-Palatinate, the isolation obligation applies from Saturday.
