Hesse: Hesse's high school graduates achieve an average grade of 2.23

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - The Hessian high school graduates achieved an average grade of 2.23 this year. This was announced by Minister of Education Alexander Lorz (CDU) on Wednesday in Wiesbaden. This year's Abitur class went through almost the entire upper school under pandemic conditions. "Having to write a final exam in such a situation is a special challenge," said Lorz. He finds it impressive how focused the high school graduates prepared for their final exams during this time.

According to the information, 19,471 students took part in the Abitur examinations in Hesse in 2022; 96.5 percent of them passed. According to the ministry, 841 high school graduates (4.5 percent) achieved the top grade of 1.0. Between 2021 and 2016, the average grade of all examinees was between 2.25 (2021) and 2.40 (2016).
