Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - Because of a life-threatening knife attack in front of a shisha bar in Frankfurt's Gallus district, the alleged perpetrator (34) is to be jailed for eight years for attempted manslaughter. For the three co-defendants, who are said to have been involved in a fight, the public prosecutor's office applied for suspended sentences for bodily harm at the Frankfurt Regional Court on Tuesday.

The four men, aged between 23 and 34, got into an argument with two other men in front of the bar in October 2021 because of two women who had apparently previously changed partners. First there was a fight, in the course of which the 34-year-old suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed one of the opponents four times in the back, according to the indictment. The victim had to be operated on.

In their closing speech, the public prosecutor's office assumed a conditional intent to kill. It was said that anyone who stabs the opponent's upper body at least accepts his possible death. After the final speech by the defense attorneys in mid-March, the verdict of the jury will be announced.
