Hesse: life-threatening stitches on New Year's Eve: pleas

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - On New Year's Eve 2019/20, a young man had seriously injured several people with a knife in front of a discotheque in downtown Frankfurt. The public prosecutor's office called for six years in prison for the 21-year-old man before the district court on Thursday. The prosecutor assumed two attempts at murder and dangerous bodily harm. Instead, the defense opted for a five-year prison sentence for grievous bodily harm. The juvenile court wants to announce the verdict on March 8th.

In a first trial, the man was sentenced to six years and three months as a youth prisoner. However, the Federal Court of Justice overturned the verdict: the court did not sufficiently consider that the attacker later abandoned his victims. A dispute broke out between the accused and his opponents after the then 19-year-old Turk had not been let into the dance hall by the bouncer. (Az: 6350 Js 200001/20)
