Darmstadt (dpa / lhe) - The police in Darmstadt pulled an illegally tuned e-bike out of circulation. Motors with a total output of 1750 watts were installed on the bike, 250 watts are permitted, as the officials announced on Friday. According to initial estimates, the souped-up bike can reach a top speed of at least 55 kilometers per hour without using the pedals. The vehicle was secured after the inspection on Thursday. The 36-year-old driver expects a display.
The police said that a patrol from the traffic inspection noticed the self-construction, among other things, because of the conspicuous wide tires. The owner even thought of turn signals and brake lights when it came to the lighting system. The brake system, on the other hand, was more than undersized for such a vehicle.
