Today, Friday March 3, the Catholic Church celebrates the feast of San Emeterio.

Emeterio and Celedonio were sons of a Roman centurion. They began their military career, but when they saw how life in Rome worked and its social corruption, they decided to change their lives.

They opted for the Christian faith, suffering persecution and torture until the day they died. Before dying, and according to tradition, they threw a ring and a handkerchief as a symbol of their devotion to God.

They were executed in the town of Calahorra (La Rioja) in the 4th century. City that every year around these dates celebrates a great party in honor of San Emeterio.
