Hesse: Prices for new residential buildings are rising rapidly

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - The prices for the construction of new residential buildings in Hesse have risen rapidly in the past year. Compared to the previous year, there was an average increase of 13.8 percent, the State Statistical Office announced on Monday in Wiesbaden. This is the strongest increase in construction prices in 52 years.

In addition to wage costs for workers, construction work also includes transport and material costs. The statisticians explained that the rise in raw material and energy prices in 2022 would have therefore also influenced the development of construction prices.

There was also a significant increase in costs of 18.1 percent for the construction work on the outdoor facilities for residential buildings. The costs for maintenance work on residential buildings have climbed by 12.8 percent year-on-year. According to the state office, the cost of constructing new commercial buildings increased by 16.1 percent and of new office buildings by 15.7 percent.
