Hessen: LSB Hessen welcomes help from the federal government in the energy crisis

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - The State Sports Association of Hesse has welcomed the Gas Price Commission's proposals to reduce costs in the energy crisis. "Basically, we see them as positive," said managing director Andreas Klages on Monday evening at a media conference in Frankfurt. However, the LSB also has doubts that the assumption of the advance payment for gas and district heating in December and the gas price cap from 12 cents to 80 percent of the advance payment for September 2022 will be sufficient from spring 2023.

"It's a signal, a streak on the horizon," said LSB President Juliane Kuhlmann. It is questionable whether it will be enough to keep the sports clubs afloat. "The boom of the crisis is much bigger," said Klages, referring to the Corona crisis. That is why the federal states are also asked to provide financial support.

An example of a club presented by the LSB shows how great the burdens of the energy crisis are and can become. According to this, the sports community 1886 Weiterstadt, an association with around 2,500 members in 18 departments, has to reckon with a deficit of at least 94,000 euros due to the current price trends of the energy suppliers.
