Hessen: Younes on farewell: "Things that didn't go well"

Frankfurt (dpa/lhe) - Eintracht Frankfurt's ex-soccer player Amin Younes has for the first time publicly commented on the reasons for his departure from the Bundesliga club. "Frankfurt was my port. But when a storm suddenly comes up and lasts for several weeks, at some point you prefer to look for another port where the sun shines a little more," Younes said in an interview with Sport1 on Monday. "There were a few things that didn't go ideally."

Eintracht Frankfurt loaned the offensive player from SSC Napoli for two years in the summer of 2020. After a few successful months, conflicts arose between the player and the club. Younes is said to have demanded, among other things, an excessive salary increase. Younes was only vague about the rumors that this anger was the trigger for leaving the "Adler": "Football is always about money. But it wasn't like I only had bread and water at home and absolutely wanted more salary to stay," explained the 29-year-old. He is a guy with rough edges, "who doesn't put up with everything and at some point says: Okay, I'm not going to do that anymore".

Younes wanted to leave Eintracht after just one year. But a planned move to Saudi Arabia to Al Shabab initially failed. As a result, Eintracht suspended the defender in September 2021, eventually terminating his contract in early 2022. "I also made mistakes in Frankfurt, no question about it. In some situations I was certainly too stubborn because of my emotions," said Younes, who now plays for FC Utrecht. In terms of sport, however, he cannot blame himself for anything and has always given everything.
