Immigration Another four cayucos arrive today in El Hierro and the Cabildo already sees the attention to minors on the island as "unapproachable"

Local media report that, throughout today, there have been five new arrivals of canoes to La Restringa, in El Hierro. One of them reached land by their own means and two others did so accompanied by a Maritime Rescue vessel, sources from the public organization have informed EFE.

The arrivals of the boats have brought, respectively, 128, 43, 252, 187, and 69 people, in order of entry to the Canary Island, as explained by CGT Mar y Puertos sources.

These arrivals have occurred in a complicated context, since yesterday four other boats reached the island with more than 500 irregular migrants from sub-Saharan Africa, according to data from Maritime Rescue, the Red Cross and 112 Canary Islands.

The president of the Cabildo, Alpidio Armas, described this Wednesday as "unapproachable and impossible" to attend to and promote the social integration of the almost 200 migrant minors who have arrived on the island in recent months.

"We are concerned about the issue of minors, it has us talking to ourselves," he said in statements to journalists in which he demanded that the Canary Islands Government take measures because the island institution cannot accommodate more than thirty with dignity. He has said that the current amount exceeds the capacity of the island's educational centers and social services and it becomes very complicated to create an effective social integration strategy and for minors to have activities.
