John Lennon killed in front of the door: Yoko Ono moves out of the notorious apartment

It's difficult to understand. But although she has to walk down the stairs every day where her husband John Lennon was once killed, Yoko Ono lives on in New York's Dakota Building. Until now. 43 years after the murder, the 90-year-old leaves the big city and moves to the country.

On February 18 of this year, John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono celebrated her 90th birthday. Now the British "Daily Mail" reports that the artist and activist has permanently moved out of her apartment in New York's famous Dakota Building. The building that reminded her every day of the most horrible day of her life.

On December 8, 1980, John Lennon was shot dead outside the building by a deranged fan. He died in front of Yoko Ono's eyes. A gray stone mosaic was set into the ground at the crime scene. It consists of the words "Imagine" - Lennon's biggest hit.

Yoko Ono lived in the exclusive apartment building on Manhattan's Upper West Side for more than 50 years. In 1973, the artist and Lennon had bought their first of allegedly five apartment units in the traditional building. The couple's only son, Sean Ono Lennon, born in 1975, also spent the early years of his life here. The 90-year-old is now said to live exclusively on her farm in upstate New York. Ono and Lennon bought it together in 1978.

Ono's farm, near the village of Franklin, New York State, is 1,500 acres. However, as "Daily Mail" further reports, the artist is not planning to sell her apartment in Manhattan. The Beatles legend's widow has largely withdrawn from the public eye in recent years.
