North Rhine-Westphalia: Airport fire brigade Cologne/Bonn must ensure emergency service

Cologne (dpa/lnw) - According to a decision by the Cologne Labor Court, the works fire brigade at Cologne/Bonn Airport must also ensure an emergency service during the warning strike planned for Monday. At least 27 employees would have to be available for this, a spokesman for the Cologne labor court summarized an urgent decision by the chamber on Friday.

The Verdi union has called for warning strikes in Cologne/Bonn from Sunday 10 p.m. to Tuesday 6 a.m. Discussions about an agreement for an emergency service by the plant fire brigade were unsuccessful.

The airport had therefore applied to the labor court for an injunction to ensure at least one emergency service by the security forces. In any case, he expects the work stoppages to severely disrupt operations and many flight cancellations.

The decision of the labor court can still be appealed to the regional labor court.
