'Learn to read a book': Britney Spears lashes out at son and ex-husband

After her son Jayden spoke publicly about the relationship with her, Britney Spears is angry and sad at the same time. Not only does she dish out against her ex-husband, she also teases the 15-year-old.

Britney Spears has responded to the interview her son Jayden James gave to ITV via Instagram. Among other things, he stated that the singer had problems paying attention to her two sons and "showing us equal love". Referring to his brother, he added: "And I don't think she showed Preston enough." It will take "a lot of time and effort" to repair the broken relationship with his mother. However, the 15-year-old also showed a willingness to reconcile.

In her Instagram post, Spears was initially saddened by her son's statements about his childhood. "My love for my children knows no bounds and it saddens me deeply to hear him lament that I have not lived up to his expectations as a mother," the 40-year-old wrote.

Referring to her longtime guardianship, she then added in a sharper tone to Jayden: "Maybe dear child, you can explain to me why our family would do this to someone! I helped your father who has not had a job for 15 years . I suppose it's easier for you guys to have nobody checking on you to make sure you're doing your homework." Speaking of her ex-husband and father of her sons, Kevin Federline, she said: "I'm sure your dad's standards of smoking weed every day will benefit your daily life at 15 and 16, being a cool generation ."

Federline had also given the broadcaster an interview as part of a documentary. In it he stated, among other things, that the media interest that accompanied Spears' fight against her guardianship of father Jamie Spears also had an impact on him and his sons. It was hard for him to see what Jayden and Sean had to go through because of it. "It's horrible to see your father being a hypocrite and saying the media is horrible but he lets you talk to them about personal matters," Spears said in her post.

In his interview, Jayden also spoke about the topic of guardianship and his grandfather Jamie Spears: "At first he was just trying to be like every father and let his daughter pursue her dream of becoming a superstar. But I think that guardianship is too lasted a long time, probably my mum was so mad about working so long and I think she should have taken a break." He loves Jamie Spears with all his heart. He and Spears' mother Lynne are "not bad people".

"As for my mental health, my dear child, you must understand that before you even think about my intellect, you must learn to pick up a book and read," Britney Spears said, angry at her son's assessments. If he wanted to say with his "reasonable, brilliant mind" that what her parents did to her was okay, then she failed as a mother.

Britney Spears was married to former backup dancer Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007. After the divorce, he was awarded custody of their sons. In 2008, Spears' father was appointed her guardian by a court. In November 2021, a judge lifted Jamie Spears' guardianship.
