Authorities arrested a man on Monday outside Shakira's home in Miami Beach accused of harassing the Colombian singer through social media and sending her gifts.
Daniel John Valtier, 56, faces a charge of harassment for social media posts about the singer and deliveries of chocolates and bottles of wine made to her home between the end of December and the beginning of 2024, according to the police report.
In Valtier's posts he falsely claimed that he was in a relationship with Shakira, including that the two were married and had a family, according to court documents.
Although police reports do not identify Shakira, local media have reported that it is the singer.
Valtier is from Texas but had traveled to Florida with the intention of visiting Shakira's house, according to what the artist's team told the police, who reported the incident.
On Monday, when Valtier arrived at Shakira's house, he was arrested by Miami Beach police.
