Mecklenburg-West Pomerania: Habeck and Schwesig at the Lubmin energy site

Lubmin (dpa / mv) - Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (Greens) and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) met on Monday morning in Lubmin in Western Pomerania. To start with, they had the gas distribution infrastructure there explained to them. The meeting will also discuss local plans for landing liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The federal government relies, among other things, on LNG delivered by ship to replace Russian pipeline gas. Lubmin is one of several locations where floating terminals chartered by the federal government are to be used. According to earlier information, the terminal in Lubmin should be operational by the end of 2023. The company Deutsche Regas intends to land LNG in Lubmin as early as this December.

Lubmin is considered a favorable location because several gas pipelines meet here. Until the delivery stop, natural gas arrived here from Russia via the Nord Stream 1 Baltic Sea pipeline.
