Stralsund (dpa/mv) - Over 3800 participants have registered for the various running and walking distances for this year's "Rügenbrücken-Marathon". 127 runners dare to start the 42.195-kilometer marathon route from 9.30 a.m. today, 551 want to start the half marathon shortly afterwards, as the organization office announced.
There are seven distances to choose from: marathon, half marathon, ten-kilometer run, six-kilometer run, ten and six-kilometer walking and a three-kilometer children's run. All competitions begin and end in Stralsund on the Mahnkesche Wiese directly at the Rügen Bridge.
There are several aid stations along the route. All routes lead to or over the bridge, vehicle traffic is temporarily routed over the old Rügendamm. In 2021 only 2500 runners could take part due to corona.
