Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: 18,000 guests at Müritz-Saga: positive conclusion before the final

Waren (dpa/mv) - The warm summer has given the open-air theater Müritz-Saga a good season. "Shortly before the end of the season we already have around 18,000 guests, that's more than we thought after Corona," said director Nils Düwell on Friday of the German Press Agency in Waren an der Müritz. Even the sometimes intense heat didn't bother the guests of the play "Des Teufels Schergen": "When we play in the evening, it was another mild summer evening." This year's season of the Müritz saga ends this Saturday evening.

"This time we had two rain performances, only one of which had to be cancelled," said the director. In other summers there were significantly more rain ideas. Before Corona in 2019, the medieval theater had almost 21,000 guests with slightly more performances than in 2022. The team of actors and amateurs also harmonize well.

How exactly the Müritz saga will continue in 2023 should be decided by mid-September, said Düwell: "We have prepared the next piece." But you first have to analyze the price and energy situation carefully and talk to sponsors, who also have a new situation because of the energy and cost development.

"The Devil's Henchmen" is about the terror that marauding mercenaries and robbers spread in Mecklenburg around 1640 during the Thirty Years' War. Directed by Düwell, a masked avenger ensures that peace is restored at the end.

A week ago, a driver who drove onto the stage of the open-air theater during a performance made national headlines. He got lost with his "Navi" and the car got stuck in the sand. No one was injured, but the performance had to be stopped and the car salvaged the next day.
