Stralsund/Rostock/Neustrelitz (dpa/mv) - Three clubs from Rostock, Stralsund and Neustrelitz, including a prison team, have received awards for their social sports projects. On Monday they received the "Sport instead of violence 2022" awards, as the State Council for Crime Prevention MV announced on Tuesday. These are the youth project "Sport Live" from the Knieper West district of Stralsund, the footballers from the youth detention center at FC Neustrelitz 07 and the "Baltic Fighters" from Rostock. The prizes, which are associated with bonuses of 1500 euros, are awarded by the State Council for Crime Prevention and the State Sports Association MV.

The Neustrelitz team includes inmates from the closed prison, who practiced values ​​such as discipline, reliability, tolerance and the reduction of prejudices with the supervisors in a training course lasting several weeks. The Neustrelitz Juvenile Institution also takes part in a nationwide initiative for the rehabilitation of young prisoners.

With the "Baltic Fighters" children, young people and adults from different backgrounds and cultures train in Rostock. Among other things, the ability to deal with conflict, self-control and mindfulness would be improved. Children pay contributions according to their age. In Stralsund, the "Sport Live" meeting point has developed into an important meeting place for children. It was said that fairness and tolerance were trained there.
