Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Economics Minister wants tourism academy for MV

Krems/Schwerin (dpa/mv) - Economics Minister Reinhard Meyer (SPD) has spoken out in favor of setting up a tourism academy in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in order to train and train specialists and to be able to react better to tourism trends. As part of a trip to Austria by the minister and leading representatives of MV tourism, the IMC University of Applied Sciences in Krems in Lower Austria was visited, Meyer reported on Thursday.

"These were very good talks," he said afterwards. "Securing skilled workers in tourism is one of the most pressing issues in the industry." MV needs tourism education at a high level with practical relevance. In addition to the training and further education of specialists, a tourism academy could also network and optimize qualification measures for the various actors in the country.

"It is just as important that trends in the industry are recognized in good time and that there is a reaction to them," stressed the minister. It is also crucial that the graduates stay in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Appropriate incentives for companies are therefore important.

A return visit to the Krems University of Applied Sciences in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is planned for this year. The delegation trip began on Wednesday and will last until Friday.
