Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Empor Rostock has to bow to Gummersbach after a big fight

Rostock (dpa / mv) - As expected, the second round of the DHB Cup ended for the second division handball team HC Empor Rostock. The Baltic Sea townspeople lost on Wednesday evening in their home arena in Halle to Bundesliga club VfL Gummersbach by 31:40 and were eliminated. "We played well, but of course Gummersbach was superior," admitted coach Till Wiechers. After almost a quarter of an hour, Empor was leading 8:6. The hosts had stood up to VfL for 20 minutes, but then the favorite prevailed. Leon Mehler in the Empor-Tor showed a strong performance again, parried ten throws and prevented a higher defeat. The best shooters for Rostock were Janos Steidtmann with seven and Sveinn Sveinnsson and Jonas Ottsen with six goals each.
