Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Energy: CDU insists on improvements to aid programs

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - From the point of view of the CDU opposition, the Schwerin state government is doing too little to relieve companies and citizens in the energy crisis. The energy policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group, Daniel Peters, called for a concrete aid program from the state in order to be able to provide targeted and rapid support on Saturday. This must consist of credit and guarantee instruments and also contain hardship funds for citizens, business, clubs, culture and independent providers of care facilities, clinics, daycare centers, universities and schools.

According to Peters, the 200 million euros required for this could be provided primarily from the state's additional tax revenue, which would be generated in particular from sales tax due to high inflation. "Both private households and many companies are facing a time when their very existence is threatened, while the state is benefiting from the crisis and is bringing in record additional tax revenue," emphasized Peters, who announced a corresponding motion by his parliamentary group for the state parliament session next week.
