Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Fire destroys food truck on Usedom

Zempin (dpa / mv) - A fire in a snack bar in Zempin on the island of Usedom (West Pomerania-Greifswald) caused damage of around 100,000 euros. As a police spokesman said on Monday, the fire brigades were alerted by witnesses on Sunday evening. The firefighters could not save the food truck not far from the Baltic Sea beach. This burned out. Nobody got hurt.

According to current knowledge, the police are investigating on suspicion of arson. A fire investigator is now tasked with finding out whether the fire was caused by negligence or was set intentionally.

In the north of the Baltic Sea island of Usedom, arson has been occurring again and again for months, the cause of which has not yet been found. Most recently, coastal forest in Trassenheide burned on September 1st and a strip of coastal forest in Zempin in August. Previously, thatched cottages, such as those in Karlshagen and Trassenheide, were also destroyed by fire.
