Güstrow (dpa / mv) - A 69-year-old from Güstrow (Rostock district) lost around 6,500 euros due to fraud via the Whatsapp messenger service. According to police information from Tuesday, the man received a text message on his smartphone from an unknown number on Monday, in which a fraudster posed as his daughter. In the message, the alleged daughter asked for financial support, after which Güstrower transferred money twice.
The man only became suspicious when the news writers asked him to send money a third time. He then contacted other family members. The criminal police again warned of the fraud in the course of the investigation.
