Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Homicide: A penalty is final, a revision

Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) - After the violent death of a man in Neubrandenburg, the prison sentence against the 20-year-old main perpetrator is final. His younger acquaintance appealed against his conviction, as a spokesman for the Neubrandenburg district court said on Thursday. The men were found guilty of assault resulting in death by the regional court on Tuesday a week ago.

According to the court, the 20-year-old Iranian and his 17-year-old friend from Afghanistan brutally abused a 30-year-old from Afghanistan in early February, mainly kicking him in the head. The victim died eleven days later in a clinic from severe brain injuries. The duo was caught near the scene of the crime, according to witnesses. According to those convicted, the motive for the act of violence was a "defamation". The dead man is said to have described a friend of the 20-year-old as a "slut" or "whore" days before.

The 20-year-old wanted to avenge that. The woman is still being investigated for incitement in this context. The main perpetrator had received four and a half years in prison, which he must now serve, it said. His acquaintance had been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison. His defense attorney had demanded a suspended sentence, among other things, because of the young age of the client. The Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe must now decide on this.
