Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The left-wing faction in Schwerin considers it important to include differences between the sexes in health care. "There is still far too little knowledge about a gender-specific orientation of health care, even among medical professionals," said the parliamentary group's spokeswoman for equal opportunities, Elke-Annette Schmidt, on Wednesday in Schwerin. In doing so, she joined the demand of the Barmer health insurance company, which had put this in the foreground the day before when presenting its health report.
According to Schmidt, it is important on the one hand to include the different effects of diseases on the sexes in the diagnosis, on the other hand to keep an eye on preventive care and to choose a gender-sensitive approach.
