Schwerin/Berlin (dpa/mv) - A few days after the federal-state summit to deal with the energy crisis, the traffic light factions in the Bundestag agreed on Tuesday on relief for people who heat with oil or pellets. A maximum of 2000 euros can be paid out per private household. The federal government is providing 1.8 billion euros from the so-called economic stabilization fund, it said. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) had also pushed for such aid as a supplement to the electricity and gas price brake.
State Energy Minister Reinhard Meyer (SPD) welcomed the announcement from Berlin. "I am pleased that there will also be considerable relief for consumers who use heating oil, pellets or liquid gas. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is a flat state. These energy sources are particularly widespread in rural areas. It is all the more important that support given," said Meyer.
According to a key issues paper by the traffic light factions SPD, Greens and FDP, households that heat with so-called "non-pipelined fuels" such as heating oil, pellets or liquid gas should be retrospectively relieved for the period from January 1st to December 1st, 2022. Prerequisite are heating costs that are at least double the previous year. According to the SPD, which reference prices apply has not yet been finally clarified. Anyone who runs a stove with logs or coal can also hope for support. Details are to be regulated in a federal-state agreement. In the case of houses with rental apartments, the landlord should apply for help and pass on the relief to his tenants.
