Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Police are investigating after the Hansa game for pyro and assault

Rostock (dpa / mv) - After the home football game of Hansa Rostock, the police are investigating, among other things, because of the use of pyrotechnics. In the second division game against SV Darmstadt 98, Hansa fans used pyrotechnics to largely obscure the Ostseestadion on Saturday. The game had to be stopped. Masked perpetrators had ignited Bengalos and smoke pots, the police said on Sunday night. The suspects are being investigated for violating the Explosives Act.

Before the game there was also an attack on a Swedish youth football team. Around ten previously unknown suspects attacked the youth players in a nearby supermarket and fled. After the game, several broken-in vehicles were found near the stadium. Stones were also thrown at two of the guest fans' shuttle buses and two patrol cars and they were damaged.

Investigations were now underway, among other things, on suspicion of serious breaches of the peace, dangerous intervention in road traffic and violations of the explosives and narcotics law. About 650 officers were deployed.
