Gran Canaria They arrest a man with a history of gender violence who was waiting for his victim hiding inside his closet to attack her

The Civil Guard has reported that on the 8th they arrested a 35-year-old man with a police record for a crime of ill-treatment in the family (gender violence) who forced the entrance door and entered the interior of the house of the victim, hiding inside a closet in the master bedroom waiting for him to return from work with the clear intention of assaulting her, events that occurred in the municipality of Vecindario, in Gran Canaria.

The Civil Guard became aware of the events as a result of a notice from a neighbor who had heard loud noises in the upper house and observed how the door to it was apparently forced, so there could be someone inside.

Once at the scene, the civil guards were able to verify that it was an address belonging to a high-risk victim of gender-based violence. Given the possibility that the alleged perpetrator could still be inside the victim's company and to safeguard the integrity of her life, the agents proceeded to quickly access the house for the possible commission of a flagrante delicto.

Immediately the civil guards proceeded to inspect the different rooms of the house one by one and upon reaching the victim's main bedroom and opening the closet, they located an individual hiding inside it, crouching among the clothes, wearing gloves wearing latex, with which he would presumably carry out his aggression. He was immediately identified as the victim's attacker, proceeding at that moment to the arrest.

The Civil Guard also located several objects among the belongings of the alleged perpetrator, with which he allegedly intended to consummate his attack, including a roll of duct tape, scissors, more latex gloves, a lighter, a brochure from the place where the victim works torn to pieces, and a passport-style photo of the victim. Therefore, and with the existing history of previous assaults, possibly the intervention of the agents was decisive in saving the life of the victim and clarifying the criminal act.

The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Violence Against Women Court No. 1 of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, which ordered his admission to prison.
