Schwerin (dpa/mv) - With its demand for an increase in initial reception capacities by the state, the City and Municipality Day of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania feels misunderstood. This should not keep asylum seekers away, it is "about good joint preparation that creates acceptance," said the municipal association in Schwerin on Wednesday.
He also referred again to the position paper presented at the beginning of February. Here it says, among other things, that the required increase from 1700 to 4700 places should serve to give the municipalities more time to prepare permanent solutions.
The proposals are intended to be a contribution to the discussion "which should lead to a reasonable perspective and a common solution".
The Ministry of the Interior had previously pointed out that the capacities of 4,700 beds provided in 2015 also included emergency accommodation. The number only came about because the significantly higher number of asylum seekers at the time made it necessary.
