Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: School digital pact: MV spent almost half of the money

Hamburg/Schwerin (dpa/mv) - Millions for the digital equipment of the schools: According to a current comparison by the federal government, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has only spent almost half of its share from the "Digital Pact for Schools" launched by the federal government in 2019. With 46.9 percent of the money that was invested in ongoing and completed projects by mid-year, the north-east ranked tenth in a comparison of the federal states.

Saxony came first with 98 percent, followed by Hamburg with 94.5 percent. The table was published on Sunday by Hamburg's school senator Ties Rabe (SPD). The national average was 61.1 percent.

The digital pact was therefore intended for the general digital equipment of schools. Later there were further additional agreements - for the immediate provision of student tablets in the corona pandemic, for end devices for teachers and for maintenance and care. With the first "Digital Pact for Schools" launched in 2019, the federal government made five billion euros available for the expansion of infrastructure in schools. The federal states should increase their share with ten percent.
