Schwerin (dpa/mv) - In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, several hundred people took part in the warning strikes in the metal and electrical industry on Thursday. According to IG Metall, a total of 500 people were involved in the strikes at Liebherr-MCCtec and EEW Special Pipe Constructions in Rostock. According to union information, there were 150 at the MAT foundry in Ueckermünde and 120 at the manufacturing technology center in Gadebusch.

IG Metall is demanding eight percent more money for the 130,000 employees in the north German metal and electrical industry over a period of twelve months. The fourth round of negotiations is scheduled for November 10 in Hamburg. A total of 4,800 employees were involved in the warning strikes in the five northern countries on Thursday.

The warning strikes will also continue in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on Friday. Then the Neptun shipyard and Caterpillar engines as well as the SEAR company in Rostock are also involved.
