Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: SSC leaders after second win: "Showed good spirit"

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - After the clear success in the first home game of the season in the volleyball league, the players of SSC Palmberg Schwerin received a lot of praise from their head coach. But Felix Koslowski also paid tribute to the opponents Ladies in Black from Aachen. "Aachen showed that they have a good team this year and that any opponent can be extremely dangerous. They demanded everything from us, but my team reacted well," he said on Saturday evening despite the 3-0 lead (25:14, 25:19, 25:17) towards the guests.

Already in the first round the team from Aachen got off to a better start in front of 2000 spectators. "Everyone was still a bit shaky in the first five minutes," admitted Lina Alsmeier. In the second set, too, Aachen dominated the action. The guests were even able to gain a 12:5 lead. But the SSC fought their way back into the game, then took the overall victory and with the 3-0 win also temporarily conquered the top of the table after two matchdays.

"There were a lot of emotions at play today, everyone was a bit excited in front of such a backdrop. Everything is set up perfectly and it was up to us to make it a successful evening," said Koslowski. "We showed a good spirit and developed this energy together with the hall to get the points."

Lina Alsmeier was also impressed by the support from the spectators and the atmosphere in the extended and modernized Palmberg Arena. "It was great to see how crowded and how yellow the hall was. It gives you that extra adrenaline rush," said the outside attacker. Traditionally, most of the fans had come into the hall with yellow shirts, based on the yellow jersey of the SSC team.
