Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: State places order for new fire engines

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The Ministry of the Interior has commissioned the construction of new extinguishing group and tank firefighting vehicles for the fire brigades in the state. "After the smaller fire brigades, which received new portable pump vehicles in the first part of the program, we are now also implementing the second part with fire engines for the fire brigades, which also perform supra-local tasks," said the Ministry of the Interior in Schwerin on Tuesday.

While the company Rosenbauer Germany was awarded the contract for the fire engine 20, the order to build the tank fire engine 3000 went to the company Schmitz fire brigade technology. "Content of both orders is the construction, equipment and delivery of 14 to 40 pieces of both vehicle types," it said.

According to the plans, the state office for central tasks and technology of the police, fire and disaster protection (LPBK) is to accept the model extinguishing group vehicle in spring 2023. In the course of the following year, the new vehicles will then be handed over step by step. The tank firefighting vehicles are also to be delivered by 2025.

According to the ministry, the state government is investing around 50 million euros in the overall program between 2020 and 2023 to improve nationwide fire protection. Based on the lessons learned from the major fire at Lübtheen in 2019, the municipalities also received eleven all-terrain tank fire engines specifically for forest fire protection.
