Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Subdued autumn revival expected on the labor market

Schwerin/Kiel (dpa/mv) - Because of the energy crisis, there are signs of a muted autumn revival on the labor market. The Regional Directorate North of the Federal Employment Agency announced the data for September on Friday (10 a.m.).

In August, unemployment in the North East rose for the third straight month. Despite the very good business in the important tourism industry, there was no trend reversal. Experts expect unemployment in September to fall compared to August as part of the autumn revival. Compared to the same month last year, however, the upward trend could continue.

In August, 61,400 people were registered as unemployed in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. That was 760 more than in July and 3,100 more than a year ago. The unemployment rate was 7.6 percent, up 0.5 points from a year ago.
