Regensburg (dpa/mv) - Thanks to Kai Pröger, FC Hansa Rostock has found its way back to success in the 2nd Bundesliga. The attacker scored two goals for the Mecklenburgers on Saturday to win 3-0 (2-0) at SSV Jahn Regensburg. "I had the feeling relatively early on that we could take the game to our side. We were really good in the duels. It was a good game, we had a good day," said the 30-year-old right winger on NDR.
In front of 10,380 spectators, Regensburg defender Jan Elvedi scored the third goal in the second away win of the Hanseatic League, who kept the distance to the relegation zone with the second away three, in the 64th minute with an own goal.
With the early lead, the guests, who had changed six positions compared to the 0:2 against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, got off to a great start. Pröger took aim from a central position after an unsuccessful defensive shot by Maximilian Thalhammer and left Regensburg goalkeeper Dejan Stojanovic with no chance of defence. This was his fifth goal of the season for the right winger.
Less than 20 minutes later, the 30-year-old, who had moved from league rivals SC Paderborn to the coast in the summer, increased his hit account. Pröger volleyed a cross from Lukas Hinterseer from 16 meters and also hit Stojanovic in the right corner of the goal, which was unstoppable.
Pröger's brace was the reward for a calm, focused performance by Rostock, who allowed the home side more possession but hardly any chances to score. If they did, goalkeeper Markus Kolke was on guard. A minute before half-time, Hansa's number one prevented Jahn from scoring with a strong save against Joshua Mees.
With the secure lead behind them, Hansa was on the defensive even after the restart and practically had the second away win of the season in the bag after a good hour. After a catastrophic miss by Regensburg's Jan Elvedi, Ingelsson pulled away from the halfway line. His shot was deflected by Elvedi and therefore couldn't be stopped by Stojanovic.
