Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: The Doll's House Museum lets visitors indulge in memories

In earlier times, the small houses were a popular Christmas present. Katja Schülke is currently exhibiting 60 different dollhouse models in Altenhof - including a motorcycle workshop.

Altenhof (dpa/mv) - Domestic life in miniature: In the doll's house museum in Altenhof (Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district), visitors can reminisce about a time when these houses were a popular Christmas present. The current exhibition shows 60 of these rooms.

"Most of them were produced in the Ore Mountains in the 1950s and 1960s," says Katja Schülke, head of the dollhouse. The houses have a representative front and a side for playing. It goes far beyond the classic layout with living room and children's room, bathroom and kitchen. Schülke: "There is also a blacksmith, a sewing room, a stable and a motorcycle workshop."

In total, the collection includes more than 140 dollhouses. One of the oldest dates from 1895. It will be on display once the planned expansion of the museum has been completed.
