Stolpe (dpa/mv) - Because of a slashed truck diesel tank, a motorway service area on the 24 Hamburg-Berlin motorway had to be closed on Tuesday. As a police spokesman said, a truck drove right into a crash barrier at the Stolpe rest area (Ludwigslust-Parchim) in the morning. The tank was torn open and diesel ran onto the road and into the ground at the exit in the direction of Berlin.
The truck had to be recovered and the soil replaced. According to the police, the 58-year-old driver fell asleep briefly and thus left the road to the right with the truck. The man was unharmed. The property damage was estimated at several thousand euros. A complaint was made against the driver for endangering road traffic.
