Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Trial against 59-year-old man for child abuse

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - A 59-year-old man from north-west Mecklenburg has to answer to the Schwerin district court from 9.30 a.m. today for multiple sexual abuse of his adopted daughter. According to the court, the prosecutor charged the man with a total of 13 criminal offenses. The assaults and rapes are said to have started in 2013 when the girl was ten years old. The abuse is said to have dragged on for several years. For the time being, the regional court has planned five days of hearings until February. According to the Criminal Code, serious sexual abuse of children is punishable by imprisonment for not less than two years.
