Schwerin (dpa/mv) - According to the municipal energy supplier Wemag (Schwerin), insufficient network capacities and extremely long approval processes are hindering the desired energy transition towards climate-friendly green electricity from wind and sun. The company wants to set up around 75 more wind turbines by 2025 and also build new solar systems. "However, we are currently faced with the challenge that the performance of the systems applied for exceeds the installed network capacity five times. Without a significant expansion of the network capacities, this capacity cannot be integrated into the distribution network," explained Wemag CEO Thomas Murche on Wednesday in Schwerin . The project developer Loscon, with whom the Wemag subsidiary mea built a wind farm south of Schwerin near the municipality of Hoort, also called for more support from politics and administration. Approval procedures should not take longer than 8 to 13 years.
